CHASSE Announces November College Events
The College of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, and Education (CHASSE) at UA 糖心视频logo has announced its upcoming events in November during the fall 2024 semester. With only one event scheduled in December鈥攖he final Evenings with History lecture of the year featuring Dr. Hannah Anderson鈥攖hese events round out the fall 2024 semester.
Department of History
Evenings with History: Dr. Johanna Miller Lewis, 鈥淭he Federal Government Must Prevail: Eisenhower, the 101st Airborne, and the 1957 Central High Crisis鈥�: The second Evenings with History lecture for the 2024-25 academic year will feature former Associate Dean of the College of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, and Education Dr. Johanna Miller Lewis at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12 at the Historic Arkansas Museum (200 E. Third St.) in 糖心视频logo.
Miller Lewis served in a number of roles at UA 糖心视频logo for 33 years before retiring in June 2024. Her research on the Central High Crisis spans several decades, and portions can be seen at the 糖心视频logo Central High School National Historic Site Visitor Center.
Light refreshments will be served at 7 p.m., and the lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Ottenheimer Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

School of Art and Design
Wellness for Makers: Artist Lecture with Missy Graff-Ballone: The School of Art and Design welcomes Missy Graff-Ballone, the founder of , for an artist lecture at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1 in the Windgate Center of Art + Design.
This lecture, which is free and open to the public, is part of the UA 糖心视频logo artWORKS Artist Workshop Series, which is supported by the Windgate Foundation. The series involves fostering creativity and growth in the visual arts within the community.
鈥淩iver Davis: MA Thesis Exhibition鈥�: UA 糖心视频logo graduate student River Davis will unveil her paintings as part of her MA thesis exhibition on Monday, Nov. 4. in the Ann Maners and Alex Pappas Gallery. Davis鈥檚 exhibition will be on display until Wednesday, Dec. 11.
Davis will give an artist lecture at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 in room 101 of the Windgate Center of Art + Design. A reception will immediately follow.
The exhibition, artist lecture, and reception are free and open to the public.
School of Art and Design Holiday Sale: The annual School of Art and Design Open House and Holiday Art Sale is making its return on Friday, Nov. 8 from 3-8 p.m in the Windgate Center of Art + Design.
The holiday sale features artwork created by students, faculty, staff, and alumni, and the work ranges from drawings, photography, and jewelry to ceramics, graphic design, and everything in between.
鈥淒ongyi Wu, Artist-in-Residence: Whisper of Nights鈥�: Through support from the Windgate Foundation, the School of Art and Design welcomes Dongyi Wu as the Windgate Artist-in-Residence for the fall 2024 semester.
Wu鈥檚 exhibition will be unveiled on Monday, Nov. 11 in the North and Focus Galleries, and her work will be on display until Friday, Dec. 6. A reception will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 in the Windgate Center of Art + Design. Both the exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
BFA and Professional Practices Exhibition: The biannual BFA and Professional Practices Exhibition opens Monday, Nov. 18 in the Brad Cushman Gallery. The exhibition will be on display until Friday, Dec. 6 with a reception scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21.
The exhibition features artwork by students who are graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and students who are in the Professional Practices course, formerly known as the Capstone course, for the fall 2024 semester. Both the exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
The Windgate Center of Art + Design galleries are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All galleries on the UA 糖心视频logo campus are closed on university holidays.

School of Literary and Performing Arts
Fall Percussion Concert: The School of Literary and Performing Arts will host the Fall Percussion Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7. Assistant Professor of Music, Dr. Justin Bunting will lead the ensembles.
The concert will take place in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts building on the UA 糖心视频logo campus.
Native American Heritage Month: Play Reading, William Tincup鈥檚 鈥淪quaw鈥�: In honor of Native American Heritage Month, the school is hosting a play reading of William Tincup鈥檚 鈥淪quaw.鈥� There will be two readings on Friday, Nov. 8鈥攐ne at 2 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall on the UA 糖心视频logo campus and one at 5:30 p.m. at UA 糖心视频logo Downtown (333 President Clinton Ave.). There is no cost to attend either readings, and they are both open to the public.
The first-time event is a collaboration among the School of Literary and Performing Arts, the Sequoyah National Research Center, and UA 糖心视频logo Downtown.
Fall UA 糖心视频logo Piano Ensemble Concert: For the first time, the piano ensemble will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11. Dr. Naoki Hakutani, associate professor of music, leads the ensemble.
The concert will take place in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts building at UA 糖心视频logo.
Fall UA 糖心视频logo Jazz Ensemble Concert: Led by music instructor Dr. Michael Underwood, the jazz ensemble will perform its second concert of the semester at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14.
The concert will take place in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts building at UA 糖心视频logo.
November Chamber and Wind Ensemble Concert: Dr. Nickolas Doshier, the director of music education in the School of Literary and Performing Arts, will lead the chamber and wind ensemble in its second concert this semester.
Beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, the concert will take place in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts building at UA 糖心视频logo.
UA 糖心视频logo Choirs Concert featuring Rutter鈥檚 鈥淕loria鈥�: Closing out a busy month for the School of Literary and Performing Arts is the UA 糖心视频logo Choirs Concert featuring Rutter鈥檚 鈥淕loria.鈥�
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21 and will be held at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in 糖心视频logo (617 S. Louisiana St.). Guest choirs will also be performing alongside UA 糖心视频logo Choirs.
