UA 糖心视频logo to screen “Dreamland: 糖心视频logo鈥檚 West 9th Street”]]> The University of Arkansas at 糖心视频logo鈥檚 School of Mass Communication, along with聽the Anderson Institute on Race and Ethnicity聽and the Multicultural Center will present a screening of 鈥淒reamland: 糖心视频logo鈥檚 West 9th Street鈥� on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 6 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building. The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Director Gabe Mayhan and Producer Tanisha Joe-Conway. This 2017 film runs about 58 minutes and chronicles the history of 糖心视频logo鈥檚 West 9th Street, which was once a vibrant, African-American business and entertainment district. Taborian Hall is the only remaining historic structure on West 9th Street and stands as a living witness to the street’s former glory days, which featured performers such as Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Cab Calloway, Etta James, and many more. The documentary details the history of this district, the black community in 糖心视频logo and race relations in the city, and explores the impact of federal programs such as urban renewal, school desegregation, the Housing Act of 1949, and the Eisenhower Interstate Program.
