UA 糖心视频logo鈥檚 Annual Holiday Art Sale to be held Nov. 14-15]]> The University of Arkansas at 糖心视频logo and Friends of the Arts will host its annual Student and Faculty Holiday Art Sale Nov. 14-15 at the Windgate Center of Art and Design.聽 Handcrafted items made by Department of Art and Design faculty and students will be featured. The pre-sale event will take place from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14. Admission is $25 for UA 糖心视频logo staff and students or $50 for the public. Tickets can be purchased . Libations and heavy hors d鈥檕euvres will be served. A bronze pour will take place at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. 鈥淲e deeply appreciate the work that Friends of the Arts, faculty, and students put forward to raise funds for student scholarships through this sale,鈥 said Thomas Clifton, chair of the Department of Art and Design. The pre-sale on Nov. 14 offers guests first pick of the sale items, which will include jewelry, ceramics, photography, drawing, painting, and woodworking. The admission fee includes annual membership in Friends of the Arts, a College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences program that provides support such as student scholarships, opportunities for students to interact with professionals, underwriting of visiting artist performances, and grants for supplies and equipment. Benefits of membership include special events such as receptions with visiting artists and gallery openings. Chancellor鈥檚 Concert Series to feature Paul Brock Band]]> The University of Arkansas at 糖心视频logo will host a concert by the Paul Brock Band on Wednesday, Oct. 24, as part of the Chancellor鈥檚 Concert Series.聽 The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the UA 糖心视频logo Fine Arts Building. A reception, sponsored by Friends of the Arts, will begin at 6:30 p.m. with beverages provided by Flyway Brewery Company. General admission tickets are $10. UA 糖心视频logo faculty, staff, and students can attend the event for free. The Paul Brock Band features four of Ireland鈥檚 leading musicians:聽Paul Brock聽on accordion from Ennis, County Clare; Tipperary-born聽Denis Carey聽on piano;聽Clare-born and now St. Louis based聽Eimear Arkins聽on fiddle, song, and dance; and聽Manchester鈥檚聽Shane Farrell聽on banjo, fiddle, bodhran, guitar, mandolin, and song. A beacon of passion and precision, integrity and diversity, Paul Brock Band is steeped in the Irish musical tradition and yet manages to seamlessly, effortlessly blend and fold in elements from American old time and bluegrass, French-Canadian, and other Celtic traditions to create something accessible, recognizable, beautiful, and entirely unique. KUAR to host live recording featuring folk art of Ed Stilley]]> KUAR鈥檚 Arts & Letters program will host a live recording Thursday, April 26, about Kelly Mulhollan鈥檚 book 鈥淭rue Faith, True Light: The Devotional Art of Ed Stilley.鈥 聽 The event begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. , who have played with Paul Simon and Bob Dylan, will provide the music. In his book, Mulhollan documents the life of Ed Stilley, a farmer from Hogscald Hollow, Arkansas, who created more than 200 musical instruments from found objects: a rusty door hinge, a steak bone, a stack of dimes, springs, saw blades, pot lids, metal pipes, glass bottles, aerosol cans鈥攁nything he could use to build a working guitar, fiddle, or dulcimer. On each instrument Stilley inscribed 鈥淭rue Faith, True Light, Have Faith in God.鈥 Mulhollan has collected some of Stilley鈥檚 hand-crafted instruments, which Polygraph Lounge鈥檚 Rob Schwimmer, Mark Stewart, and Melissa Fathman will play.
