UALR Receives $750,000 for NASA Robot Vision

UALR will receive a three-year $750,000 grant from NASA as part of the space agency鈥檚 Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research. UALR is the only institution in Arkansas to receive an award.

In 1931, the Lion鈥檚 Club International began a national program promoting the use of white canes to help the blind 鈥渟ee.鈥 Now, scientists at UALR are turning to the organization to test a next generation 鈥渟mart鈥 cane.

UALR Prof, Students Help NASA Rovers Roll

A paper co-authored by Dr. Cang Ye and two UALR students won 鈥淏est Paper鈥 at the IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation. The paper describes their process for helping keep NASA’s rovers on the moon or Mars from getting stuck.
