American Chemical Society recognizes UALR chapter
UALR鈥檚 chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS), which has been recognized nationally by the ACS and received numerous commendations, was recently recognized by the Central Arkansas Local Section of the ACS in its September newsletter for 鈥渢aking initiative in continuing growth and notability around the campus.鈥�
The newsletter stated the chapter has continually conducted outreach activities for prospective UALR students and undergraduates, persuading them to take an interest in chemistry.
UALR鈥檚 ACS chapter holds regular meetings and demonstrations, providing free lunch for student attendees. Its recent campus-wide 鈥淒iscover UALR鈥� event, which included a 鈥淐lock Reaction鈥� and 鈥淓lephant鈥檚 Toothpaste鈥� chemical demonstrations.
According to the newsletter, 鈥渢he looks of awe that [the students] gave after each experiment and after they were told about the research information was fulfilling and reminded us that this is聽what the purpose of having this chapter is all about.鈥�
